LAHORE (27-08-26): Parliamentary Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Ms Rushda Lodhi along with UN Global Nutrition Champion & Senior Corporate Professional Ms Saira Iftikhar visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani.
Meanwhile a meeting was held in UVAS and Prof Dr Masood Rabbani presided over the meeting and with Ms Rushda Lodhi sought suggestion and technical inputs from UVAS experts working for the betterment of human, animals & environment under one health concept and discussed stunting issues due to malnutrition in students and how to address such issues. Later Ms Saira Iftikhar gave a detailed presentation on Healthy University campus drive.
Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and a number of UVAS senior faculty members from Department of Food Science & Human Nutrition and administrative officers were present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, briefed them regarding UVAS academic, research activities, university development projects/new initiatives including Ravi Campus Pattoki which will be converted into Agro-Livestock Tourism Resort for school/colleges & universities students, where students/researchers & families interested in poultry, dairy, livestock, fisheries & wildlife management will visit from various educational institutions on weekends and they will get the opportunity to learn about knowledge regarding food processing related to farm-to-fork. He also spoke about the Center for Academic Development and Student wellbeing for resolving issues of demoralization and avoidance of learning process and initiation of mentoring program for mapping issue face by students like cultural shock, mental health, language problem and financial. Prof Dr Masood Rabbani also reaffirmed the initiation of a healthy campus programme for the betterment and well-being of students, faculty and staff. Earlier, Prof Dr Masood Rabbani welcome them in historic institution UVAS and he showed university video documentary to give an overview of UVAS research, development interventions, student strength and collaboration with national and international institutions etc.
