LAHORE (28-08-26): Chief Executive Officer Punjab Skill Development Fund (PSDF) Mr Ahmad Khan along with officials visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani.
Meanwhile a meeting was held in UVAS and Prof Dr Masood Rabbani presided over the meeting and they discussed on collaboration with PSDF for funding opportunities in smart livestock farming training.
Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Dean Faculty of Bio-sciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean Faculty of Animal Production & Technology Prof Dr Saima and a number of UVAS senior faculty members from different departments & administrative officers were present in the meeting.
While addressing the meeting participants, Ahmed Khan said that to successfully secure any project, it is essential that the initiative involves collaboration between industry and academia, proper certification and sustainability and is marketed effectively so that the resulting product fulfill market demand. He also praised UVAS quality of education and research.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Masood Rabbani said that the education system is currently facing numerous challenges associated with modern-day innovations and changes that used to take years to unfold are now occurring within a very short span of time. He said that to meet the modern-day demands UVAS is incorporating courses on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ‘One Health’ into its curriculum and this initiative aims to produce skilled graduates who can play a pivotal role in the progress of the country and the nation, as well as in strengthening the national economy by utilizing their knowledge and professional skills. He briefed them UVAS development projects/new initiatives including Ravi Campus Pattoki which will be converted into Agro-Livestock Tourism Resort for school/colleges & universities students, where students/researchers & families interested in poultry, dairy, livestock, fisheries & wildlife management will visit from various educational institutions on weekends and they will get the opportunity to learn about knowledge regarding food processing related to farm-to-fork. He said that the UVAS is also organizing modern dairy farming training for matric pass livestock farmers and this initiative will not only improve the farmers’ economic but also boost the country’s milk and meat production. Earlier, Prof Dr Masood Rabbani welcome them in UVAS and he showed university video documentary to give an overview of UVAS research, development interventions, student strength and collaboration with national and international institutions etc. Later Dr Naveed-ul-Haq delivered a detailed presentation on the “Climate-Smart Livestock Skill Program”.
