Weeklong Capacity Building Training of Laboratory Staff begins at UVAS

LAHORE (17-08-26): The Institute of Biochemistry & Biotechnology (IBBT) of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged a weeklong Capacity Building Training of Laboratory Staff to enhancing their knowledge, improving skills and ensuring quality work of labs at the Veterinary Academy of City Campus Lahore.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani presided over the inaugural session of the training while Prof Dr Waseem Shahzad, Prof Dr Ali Ahmad Sheikh and a number of participants from different laboratories of UVAS were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Masood Rabbani said that the role of laboratory staff is considered highly significant and it is essential for them to know professional knowledge regarding laboratory operations and practical tasks as well as an understanding of modern innovations in the field. He said that laboratory staff must be thoroughly proficient in their work; they should promptly note down any required items or equipment and report them to the concerned officer to ensure there is no disruption to the work. He said that laboratory staff should research online specifically related to their field and he urged them to perform their duties with the utmost excellence so that the maximum number of professionals could benefit from their work. Prof Rabbani also shared with the participants the success story of the University Diagnostic Laboratory of UVAS.

In this training experts will deliver their lectures on different topics related to laboratory hazards, lab safety guidelines, waste management, accident report, protective equipment, lab ethics, good lab practices, lab arrangements/maintenance/cleaning & documentation, research resource management, SOP`s quality assurance procedures, lab safety cabinets and assessment of learning outcomes etc.
