LAHORE (11-05-26): The Debating Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged four days Debating Gala 2026 in commemoration of Marka-e-Haq which comprised of three segments Declamation, Parliamentary Debate and Model United Nations (MUN) competitions under the supervision of Senior Tutor Office held at City Campus Lahore.
Chief Executive Officer Seasons Group of Industries Dr Musaddiq Asif presided over the concluding ceremony of debating gala and along with UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Masood Rabbani distributed shields & trophies among the winners of competitions.
Ex-President Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council Dr Muhammad Arshad, Former Director General Extension Livestock Punjab Dr Asif Salman Sahi, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Senior Tutor Prof Dr Yasin Tipu, Convener UVAS Debating Society Dr Maryam Javed, a number of deans, directors, dignitaries and students from over 60 institutions (universities/colleges/schools) all over the Pakistan were present in the prize distribution ceremony. Over 700 hundreds students participated in these competitions.
Government College University Lahore won the Best Team Trophy in all three debating categories while Allama Iqbal Medical College won the runner-up position. Forman Christian College was awarded runner-up Best Delegation in MUNs. Punjab University, Government College University and Fatima Jinnah Medical College University were among the winners in Parliamentary debate format.
While addressing the audience, Dr Musaddiq Asif stressed on the importance of entrepreneurship and he urged the students to start their own businesses instead of looking for jobs. He also congratulated Prof Dr Masood Rabbani on becoming the Vice Chancellor of the UVAS.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Masood Rabbani paid rich tribute to the Pakistani army who set a high example of courage and bravery during Operation Bunyan Al Marsoos and inflicted a crushing defeat on the Indian army. He appreciated the efforts of the students who performed well in the debate competitions and also highly praised the organizers for organizing the debating gala in a befitting manner. He advised students to follow UVAS rules and regulations and urged them study with full dedication. He said that further improving the quality of education and research at the university and producing high-quality graduates are among his top priorities, and that the graduates of the Veterinary University should not only meet international standards but also play an exemplary role in the development of the livestock, poultry, dairy, meat and pharmaceutical industries. Dr Arshad said that he is happy that the UVAS has been blessed with the leadership of Prof Dr Masood Rabbani which will further improve the quality of education and research at the university. He also paid tribute to the Pakistani forces and said that with the help of Pakistan’s forces, no enemy has the courage to look at us with a dirty eye. At the end of ceremony Dr Maryam Javed presented vote of thanks.
