Youth Training Workshop on Drug Use Prevention at UVAS

LAHORE (09-10-25): The Character building society, Anti-Drug & Tobacco Committee, UVAS Drug Advisory Training Hub of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Anti-Narcotics Force Pakistan jointly arranged a Youth Training Workshop on Drug Use Prevention with the theme “Say No to Drug” here at City Campus.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the concluding session of workshop while Regional Directorate Commander Anti-Narcotics Force Punjab Brig. Sikandar Hayat Chaudhary was the Guest of Honor. Consultant/Expert, Anti-Drugs Narcotics Campaign & Master Trainer on Drug Syed Zulfiqar Hussain, Psychiatrist/Senior Registrar Mayo Hospital Lahore Dr Shoiab Zafar, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dr Muhammad Asad Ali and number of faculty members and students were present.

While addressing the audience, Brigadier Sikandar Hayat Chaudhary informed the audience about the strict actions and various initiatives taken by the Anti-Narcotics Force Pakistan to prevent drugs in the country. He said that the Anti-Narcotics Force is working on zero tolerance in Pakistan and has so far given strictest punishment to 93 percent of the criminals involved in the drug trade. He said drug addicts should not be completely isolated from society, but should be treated with kindness and your positive attitude and good behavior can help addicts to stay away from drug addiction and improve their lives.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that parents and teachers can play a key role in protecting the young generation from the scourge of drugs through good education. He urged the teachers to inform the students about the positive aspects of society and the harmful effects and consequences of addiction during their lectures so that the students become good citizens of society and serve their parents and respect their teachers, as well as play their role in the development of the country and nation through their knowledge and actions. He said that the role and efforts of the Anti-Narcotics Force Pakistan in preventing drugs in the country are commendable.

Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani said that UVAS is paying special attention to the character building of the students and to keep the young students of UVAS away from drugs, the Anti-Drug and Tobacco Committee is working vigorously with its strict rules and regulations. She also advised students to pray five times a day so that the students stay away from all kinds of evil.

During session Syed Zulfiqar Hussain gave a lecture to the attendees on the topic of drug prevention and types, while Dr Maria and Dr Shoaib Zafar spoke in detail about the symptoms and psychology of a drug addict, the harmful effects of drugs on human health, mental state, behavior, treatment methods and recovery etc.
