World Day for Forest observes at UVAS

LAHORE (27-03-25): The Department of Environmental Sciences of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with Senior Tutor office, Save Our Society (SOS) Foundation, Green Youth Movement Club (GYM) & Society for Conservation of Environment and Nature (SCEN) arranged an awareness seminar to mark World Day for Forest to spread awareness among public about the vital role of forests in food security, nutrition, and sustainable livelihoods at City Campus Lahore.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) chaired the inaugural session of the seminar while Chief Executive Officer (SOS) Foundation/Former Executive Director HEC Dr Shaista Sohail was the Guest of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus emphasized on the urgent need for Forest conservation and maintaining ecological balance. Dr Shaista Sohail delivered insightful talk on Afforestation, climate change, forest management, and ecosystem sustainability. Moreover, she emphasized taking green initiatives at community level for a sustainable future. Later Dr Shaista Sohail planted a sapling in front of Vice-Chancellor Office park to promote greenery.

Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Principal Officer City Campus Prof Dr Mati-ur-Rehman Khan Niazi, Senior Tutor Prof Dr Yasin Tipu, Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Director Student Affairs Dr Muhammad Asad Ali, Focal person of GYM Club Dr Fariha Arooj and number of faculty members and students were present in the seminar.
