LAHORE (30-08-24): The Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission arranged a weeklong “MPhil/PhD Supervisors Training” at the UVAS city Campus. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) and Director General HEC Lahore Regional Mr Ghulam Nabi co-chaired the concluding session of the training and distributed certificates among the participants.
Director National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) HEC Mr Sulaiman Ahmad, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Busniess Management Prof Dr Muhammad Azam, Dean Faculty of Animal Production & Technology Prof Dr Saima, Prof Dr Haroon Akbar and faculty members from Ravi Campus Pattoki, KBCMA CVAs-Narowal and CVAS Jhang were present.
Prof Dr Imran Rasheed, Prof Dr Aftab Ahmad Anjum, Prof Dr Muhammad Ijaz and Prof Dr Arshad Javid were the resource persons of training.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus urged the faculty members and students to choose their research work with focus on addressing livestock, poultry and dairy sectors issues. He advised students to play their vital role in the betterment of society & development of country as well livestock sector by utilizing their knowledge & skills. He said all the faculty members were trained as master trainers. He also lauded the training organizers.
Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani presented vote of thanks and thanked all the participants, resource persons and supportive staff for successful completion of this training.
Mr Ghulam Nabi said that teachers are role model for their students. He also spoke about the importance of result oriented work and time management for teachers. He said HEC’s doors are always open for the assistance of teachers.
Various aspects have been discussed during training related to role, responsibilities and expectations of supervising, keeping research on track monitoring progress, supporting candidate wellbeing professional & career development, building effective and trusting relationship, supporting candidates in writing and publication etc.
Earlier Director General Higher Education Commission Lahore Mr Ghulam Nabi along with Director National Academy of the Higher Education (NAHE) HEC Mr Sulaiman Ahmad and Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani visited various section of UVAS Veterinary Academy and reviewed available state of the art facilities, venue and its conducive environment for imparting knowledge and skills to in-service officers. They said it is the 1st academy of its kind in the public sector universities for professional training.
