VC stresses quality LAD education to meet livestock farmer issues

LAHORE (01-11-23): Institute of Continuing Education and Extension (ICE&E) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged a meeting of constituent & affiliated centers of UVAS to review & improve the quality of the Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD).

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the meeting while Director ICE&E Dr Hassan Mahmood Warriach, Principal Para-Veterinary Institute Layyah Dr Absar Ahmad, Principal LSTC Sheikhupura Dr Khalid Hussain and number of faculty members from different affiliated centers were present in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed urged improving the practical training of LAD students on urgent basis to enhance their practical knowledge. He said that our goal is to equip the passed out para-vets with the best skills for provision of doorstep facility at the doorstep of livestock farmers. High-quality service delivery to livestock farmers is the ultimate contribution in the development and success of the livestock industry & national economy of Pakistan, he added.

Earlier, Dr Hassan Mahmood Warriach mentioned about ICE&E hiring multidisciplinary faculty, initiated village extension programme, adopting participatory teaching methods and practical training of students, sports activity and recreational tour for students, rural development training center for short-term courses, capacity building of faculty and establishment of ICE&E Lahore center etc.

The participants of the meeting were briefed about the activity calendar and time line for the different administrative activities, coordination mechanism for the smooth and effective execution of Livestock Assistant Diploma (LAD) program, sports & co-curricular activities for students, future plan for the internship placement of student & possibilities to improve its impact and facing challenges/issues.
