UVAS observes Youm-e-Takbeer to marks 27th anniversary of historic nuclear tests

LAHORE (28-05-25): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore observed “Youm-e-Takbeer” with patriotic fervor marking the 27th anniversary of Pakistan’s successful nuclear tests conducted in Chagai, Balochistan on May 28, 1998 became the seventh nuclear power in the world and the first in the Muslim world.

Various activities like seminar, special prayers for the martyrs of Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, speech by students and patriotic song featured to mark the day in befitting manners.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the seminar while Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Yasin Tipu, Registrar Sajjad Hyder, President Officer Staff Association Rizwan Saleem, President Non-Teaching Staff Association Asad Shah and number of directors/chairpersons from different departments, faculty members, administrative officers, staff and students were present in the seminar.

Addressing the seminar, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that we pay tribute to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for playing an exemplary role in strengthening Pakistan’s defenses and building a nuclear power and to the Pakistani Armed Forces for setting a high example of courage and bravery in Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos. He said that our Pakistani forces bravely confronted the enemy during Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos and sacrificed their precious lives. He said that the day of May 28, 1998 reminds us that on this historic day, Pakistan emerged as the first nuclear power of the Islamic world, while on the same day Pakistan also became the seventh nuclear power in the world and in response to India’s five nuclear explosions, Pakistan conducted six successful nuclear explosions. Prof Younus said that whether it is the war against the infidels, muslims are never afraid of death and are always ready to wage jihad against the enemy and be martyred in the path of God. At the end of the seminar Sajjad Hyder presented the vote of thanks.
