LAHORE (02-10-24): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding with Police Animal Rescue Centre (PARC) to take significant steps for animal’s welfare regarding treatment, care and protection in Punjab.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) and Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani from UVAS while Chief Traffic Officer Lahore/SSP Ms Amara Athar and Assistant Superintendent of Police Operation Wing Mr Muhammad Raza from PARC signed the MoU in a ceremony held at City Campus Lahore and few officials from PARC and SPCA also present in the ceremony. Similar a memorandum of understanding also signed between Police Animal Rescue Centre (PARC) and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) at UVAS on the occasion.
While addressing the MoU ceremony Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that UVAS always willing to the assistance of Police Animal Rescue Centre for providing treatment and disease diagnostics facilities to save stray animals (dogs & cats) life even for the noble cause and animal welfare as well.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Amara Athar spoke about the aims objectives of the MoU. She said it was the initiatives & vision of IG Punjab and under his vision recently developed an animal rescue centre to save animals life from cruelty. She said UVAS cooperation will be very helpful for us not only for providing treatment and disease diagnostics facilities of animals even for the successfully run of this programme in the Punjab.
Under the MoU, both the parties will collaborate in arranging outdoor events including medical camps and seminars for the awareness of animal welfare & laws. UVAS veterinarians will have learning opportunities through internships and volunteer work activities. They will actively participate in the “Trap Neuter Vaccination Release” (TNVR) program of controlling the population of stray street animals (cats & dogs). UVAS will provide medical and diagnostic facilities to PARC such as X-Rays, ultrasound and postmortem for selective cases. UVAS will engage different pharmaceutical companies for sponsorship of such events. Electronic and social media management will be made effective for animal welfare by both parties.
