UVAS holds Day-long hands-on workshop on “Applications of Nanotechnology in Vector Control”

LAHORE (18-02-26): The Department of Parasitology of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Punjab Agriculture Research Board (PARB) arranged a day-long workshop on “Applications of Nano Technology in Vector Control” at UVAS City Campus Lahore.

Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the concluding session of the workshop and distributed certificates among participants while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Mian Abdul Hafeez, Dr Muhammad Oneeb and a number of professionals/parasitologists, vector control specialists, researchers, academicians experts from different public & private institutions/organizations were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus appreciated the efforts of Dr Oneeb for organizing a successful workshop on informative topic and congratulated him on successfully completed his project on applications of nanotechnology in vector control diseases. He also thanked to PARB for providing research grant to UVAS researchers. He urged the workshop participants to spread the knowledge which they learned from this workshop with other professionals so that a trained human resource could be produce and they play their role in uplift of national economy by utilizing their knowledge and skills. Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani urged researchers to focus on the gaps in research while working on research projects so that there is no gap in the execution of research work.

The objectives of the workshop to engage of experts at the interface of nanotechnology & vector biology, understand how nano-encapsulation improves bio efficiency & stability, understand Nano biotechnology in vector & parasite control and analys practical size & zeta potential for stability etc.
