UVAS Faculty of Veterinary Science arranges DVM dinner

LAHORE (26-06-25): The Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged an annual dinner of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in befitting manners at local hotel Lahore.

Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan was the chief guest of the event while Member Provincial Assembly Chaudhry Zia Ur Rehman and Vice-Chancellor Agriculture University Faisalabad Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali were the guests of honor. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I), Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani and a number of faculty members, representatives from public & private sectors industries (pharmaceutical, animal nutrition, dairy, poultry & livestock) and students were present in the DVM dinner.

Different activities like comedy poetry, funny song, DVM video, cultural dance performances (Punjabi, Pakhtoon, Gilgit Balitistan, Siraiki), sufi dance by (Versatile Performing Art) and views by industry representatives featured the event.

While addressing the audience, Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan urged the students to learn professional and practical skills related to the field and start their own businesses. He also stressed the need to play an exemplary role as an expert workforce in genetic improvement and prevention of various diseases to boost livestock sector in Pakistan. He emphasized on aligning the Doctor of Veterinary Science curriculum with modern requirements and said that livestock and agriculture are sectors of the country that are playing a significant role in stabilizing the national economy. He advised the students to prepare themselves for international skills competitions and congratulated the DVM graduates on successfully completing their degrees.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that said that the students should not only learn modern practical knowledge, skills and practices related to animal treatment but also play a key role in the promotion of veterinary education and the development of the livestock sector in the country through their knowledge and skills. Emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship Prof Younus advised the students to start their own businesses in the future and become job creators themselves instead of looking for jobs after completing their degrees. Prof Younus appreciated and congratulated the efforts of all the organizing committees for organizing the excellent dinner and also thanked the sponsors for providing financial support.

At the end of the program, Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan along with Prof Dr Muhammad Younus and other dignitaries also distributed certificates of appreciation among the members of the organizing committee and sponsors.
