LAHORE (22-05-25): The Institute of Microbiology in collaboration with American Society for Microbiology and Provincial TB Control Programme Punjab & Society for Microbiology of the University of Veterinary and Animals Sciences Lahore arranged an awareness walk, seminar and screening camp with the theme “Imagine a world without TB, Lets make it real” on Thursday at City Campus.
Director Institute of Microbiology Prof Dr Aftab Ahmad Anjum led the walk while Director Students Affairs Dr Muhammad Asad Ali and a large number of faculty members, students and staff participated. The walk started from Vice-Chancellor office and culminated at in front of main lawn.
Professor Central Institute of Family Medicine Lahore Prof Dr Basharat Ali and Senior Provincial Programme Officer (Provincial TB Control Programme Punjab) Dr Qasim Mahmood were the guest speakers of the seminar. Prof Dr Basharat Ali delivered an informative lecture on conventional and novel diagnostic approaches of tuberculosis and Dr Qasim talked about the role of Provincial TB Control Programme Punjab to UVAS student.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the concluding session of the seminar and distributed souvenirs and certificates among speakers and organizers of the seminar. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Younus endorsed that tuberculosis is a zoonotic disease so its surveillance and monitoring may be extended to the animals and animal handlers.
