Prof Dr Masood Rabbani assumed charge of UVAS Vice-Chancellor

LAHORE: (23-04-26): The Governor Punjab/Chancellor appointed Professor Emeritus Dr Masood Rabbani (Izaz-i-Fazeelat) as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Science (UVAS) Lahore for a period of four years. Prof Dr Masood Rabbani assumed the charge of UVAS Vice-Chancellor.

Prof Dr Masood Rabbani is a renowned international scientist, microbiologist and UVAS senior Emeritus Professor. He remained President of Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council, Convener (PVMC) Accreditation & Equivalence. He was Convener of National Curricula Revision Committee. He also remained caretaker Vice-Chancellor and Pro Vice-Chancellor of UVAS.

He is PhD in Microbiology from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. He is recipient of Izaz-i-Fazeelat presidential award (2005) for his academic distinction, fellowship from David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California Los Angeles USA in 2008, Best Teacher’s Award 2013-14 from the Higher Education Commission.

Prof Rabbani is also HEC-approved PhD supervisor and has supervised over 100 PhD and MPhil scholars. He is author of over 200 impact factor research publications and several books.  

He is mainly focusing on biosafety, food safety and implementation of ISO standards while working on diagnosis and control of major livestock, poultry and pets diseases prevalent in Punjab. Prof Masood Rabbani has wide academic and administrative work experience of 40 years professional experience in education, research and Implementation of ISO Standards. During his directorship, the University Diagnostic Lab has been internationally accredited to ILAC through ISO 17025 Certification by PNAC in 2010.

After taking over the charge of office, Vice-Chancellor said that focusing on enhancing quality of education and applied research for end-user benefit, increasing university income, promoting linkages with industry and national & international institutions for the capacity building of students & faculty, entrepreneurship, innovations and improving diagnostic & health services, food safety and quality, one health and smart livestock farming for the benefit of poor livestock farming community are his top priorities.
