LAHORE (11-02-26): Department of Pathology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with the Global Health Pathology Network (GHPN) and the Davis Thompson Foundation USA arranged a concluding ceremony of three-day international workshop on ‘Pathology of Companion Animals’ at City Campus on Wednesday.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates among participants and shields among resource persons of the workshop.
Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Chairman Department of Pathology Prof Dr Muhammad Yasin Tipu, Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad, Dr Rana Fawad Hafeez, Renowned Pathologists Dr Jeremy Bearss and Dr Kelsey Fiddes from USA and number of representatives from diagnostics labs & pharmaceutical industry, professionals from public & private institutions of Pakistan, post-graduate students, researchers and faculty members were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus appreciated the efforts of Prof Dr Yasin Tipu and his team for organizing a successful international workshop on informative topic and also advised the workshop participants to perform their field-related responsibilities with full dedication. He said due to quality of education and research UVAS achieved a prominent position in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and currently more than ten thousand students are studying in various degree programs at the university. He further said that a vaccine is being developed to prevent foot-and-mouth disease at UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki. He urged the workshop participants to spread the knowledge which they learned from this workshop with other professionals so that veterinary education in the country is promoted and our country economy is also strengthened.
Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani that the participants of workshop gain maximum knowledge about latest pathology techniques from their colleagues and they also discussed various issues related to diagnosis of different diseases of animals.
Earlier, Prof Dr Yasin Tipu thanked to sponsors for financial assistance and praised participants who came from different part of world to make this workshop successful while Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad spoke about the various aspects, participant strength, GHPN activities and aims and objectives of the workshop.
This intensive workshop was designed to strengthen diagnostic skills through interactive learning, real clinical case discussions and practical exposure to cytology, histopathology, necropsy techniques and disease correlation in companion animals.
