LAHORE (26-02-26): Five hundred fifty eight talented students of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore were given laptops under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2026 (Phase-4) on Thursday.
Education Minister Punjab Rana Sikandar Hayat presided over the laptop distribution ceremony and he along with UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) distributed the laptops among the students, who were selected on merit from different departments and campuses of the UVAS.
Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Registrar Sajjad Hyder, Director Information Technology Center Muhammad Rizwan Saleem and a large number of students and faculty members from UVAS different campuses including City Campus Lahore, Ravi Campus Pattoki, CVAS Jhang and KBCMA-CVAS Narowal were present in the PM Laptop distribution ceremony held in collaboration with Higher Education Commission at UVAS City Campus.
While addressing the students in the ceremony, Education Minister Punjab Rana Sikandar Hayat congratulated the talented students on behalf of the Chief Minister of Punjab for receiving laptops on the basis of merit. He said that equipping young students with modern technology is the need of the hour and students are being provided opportunities to progress through scholarship and laptop schemes. He said that the Punjab government is taking revolutionary steps in the education sector and young students are the bright future of Pakistan and in this regard, the government is also taking important steps to empower these students. He said that the distribution of laptops will significantly improve the quality of education because the combination of education and technology is a guarantee of progress. Rana Sikandar Hayat said that due to the tireless efforts of UVAS present leadership at the Ravi Campus 3200 students are currently studying there in various degree programs and the significant increase in the number of students there in a short period of time is a good sign. He said that the next time he visits UVAS he will visit the student hostels along with VC Prof Dr Muhammad Younus and also will review the available facilities for students there.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that Rana Sikandar Hayat is a dynamic minister of Punjab who is playing an exemplary role in the development of the education sector and the real reason for his popularity is the work he has done for the betterment of educational institutions of Punjab, especially school education and higher education and for the betterment of students. He also congratulated the students getting laptops on merit under the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2026.
