Biography

Dr. Sanaullah Iqbal is a professor (tenured) and chairman of the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, Faculty of Bio-Sciences, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore–Pakistan. He has completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, major subject as Food Technology in 2004 and M.Sc. (Hons.) Food Science and Technology in 2006 from National Institute of Food Science and Technology, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad–Pakistan. Dr. Sanaullah earned PhD in Food Science with distinction in 2011 from the Food Biotechnology Lab., University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna–Austria. Recently, he completed a “Certificate in Health Profession Education (CHPE)” from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore. Dr. Sanaullah has published 68 peer-reviewed research papers and one book chapter in well-known scientific journals with a good impact factor. Dr. Sanaullah has also presented his scientific work as oral presentations at 20 national and international conferences worldwide including Turkey, Poland, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and Austria. So far, he has produced 61 M. Phil and 06 PhD scholars under his supervision in food safety & controls and food & nutrition disciplines. In his area of interest, he has completed 09 research projects worth ~29 million Pak rupees funded by various national and international agencies. He has also served as a “subject expert” at various forums including degree evaluation by NAEAC-HEC & PHEC and selection boards in public service commission and different public and private sector universities.

  1. Completed “training workshop for M. Phil / PhD Supervisors” organized by Faculty of Bio-Sciences, UVAS Lahore from 9-12 September 2024.  
  2. Completed a four-day training course on “Research capacity building program for grant reviewers” in 2023 organized by the British Council and Coventry University, United Kingdom in collaboration with HEC, Islamabad Pakistan 
  3. Completed two weeks online “Seminar on Food Safety Inspection Technology and Safety Management for Belt and Road Countries” organized by the Ministry of Commerce, People’s Republic of China from June 23, 2021, to July 06, 2021.   
  4. Participated as a member in a three-day workshop for the National Curriculum Revision Committee for “Food Engineering” undergraduate and post-graduate on 7 – 9 February 2018 at HEC Regional Center Lahore Pakistan 
  5. Participated and passed International 2-day training on “Quintron Breath Tracker” held on 4-5 October 2017 in Singapore organized by Biomedix Singapore Pte Ltd.  
  6. Participated and Passed in Internationally Accredited One Day Training on “Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering” held on 25th April 2015 organized by Pulseberry Consulting, Dubai, and Charted Institute of Environmental Health at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore.

    • To date, I have participated in 14 scientific meetings mainly Functional Food Regulations, infant formula health claims, PC-1 development for establishing Human Nutrition Clinics in 36 districts of Punjab, Food product labeling, Food safety training schools, etc.
