DVM, Ph.D. (China)
Biography
Dr. Muhammad Usman Mehmood’s research interests center on Animal Reproduction, Breeding, and Genetics, with a particular emphasis on reproductive biotechnology. Dr. Mehmood earned his PhD from Guangxi University, China, in 2024, where his research examined the timing of GnRH administration during progesterone-based ovulation synchronization to enhance reproduction. His primary focus includes optimizing ovulation synchronization protocols, improving follicular dynamics, and enhancing fertility through in-vitro embryo production, Timed AI, and embryo transfer. He has a strong interest in in vitro embryo production technologies, including oocyte maturation, in vitro fertilization, embryo culture, and embryo transfer in buffaloes. His expertise extends to semen cryopreservation and analysis, reproductive ultrasonography in farm and equine species, and molecular approaches such as RNA extraction and real-time PCR for studying reproductive physiology. He is also keenly interested in bridging laboratory advancements with field applications through extension services, training, and farmer education. He serves as an academic editor and reviewer for several international journals. He has supervised several postgraduate students. Overall, his work aims to advance assisted reproductive technologies, improve reproductive efficiency in livestock, and contribute to sustainable dairy and livestock production systems.
