Biography

Currently, I am working as Professor in the Department of Parasitology at the University of Veterinary and
Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, Pakistan.

  • I earned my DVM (1997) and M.Phil. in Parasitology (2005) from UVAS, and later completed a Master’s (2008) and PhD (2011) in Parasitology at the University of Tours, France.
  • Before joining academia, I worked as a field veterinarian (1998–2004), providing animal health services and farmer advisory in Punjab, Pakistan.
  • At UVAS, I have been teaching veterinary students and supervising research on parasite diagnostics and vaccines since 2004.

I have led national and international research projects and trained postgraduate students, and published widely in
parasitology and veterinary sciences.
I am also running an antenna of french language courses at UVAS affiliated with French center, Lahore

  1. Grand Challenges Canada (Grant # S4_0266-01_GCCStars) titled “Development of toxoplasma multi-protein sub-unit vaccine and their experiment trials in mouse model administered intranasally with triad of antigens formulated in nanoparticles” starting from 01/04/2013 and Ending at 30/09/2014 (GRANT NO. S4-0266-01 Worth: 113000 CAD$), as PI of the project.
  2. A joint grant application to Pakistan-US Science and Technology cooperation program phase 7 titled, “Capacity building for vector-borne neglected diseases of livestock”. This joint project has been funded for three years starting from 01/09/2017 and ending at 30/08/2020, at the cost of $356,870.00, as co-PI of the project
  3. Punjab Agriculture Research Board (PARB) for the Project No. 610 on “Bovine Theileriosis: Its molecular epidemiology and trials of recombinant vaccine” in 2018, for 2 years Starting from 01/04/2018 and ending at 31/05/2020 at the cost of 18.2 million Rupees, as PI of the project
  4. National Research Program for Universities of HEC (Project no. NRPU 7173) for the grant on “Development of Vaccine Based on Either Recombinant Protein or Exo-Antigen is Effective to Control Bovine Babesiosis” at total cost of 8.5 million Pak Rupees in 2019 funded for 2 years starting from 26/10/2018 and ending at 18/06/2021 as PI of the project
  5. Technology Development Fund of HEC (TDF03-239) for the grant on “Implementation of Our Prototype Elisa Test for Screening Blood Samples of Man and Food Animals” at a total cost of 9.941 million Pak Rupees in 2019 funded for 2 years starting from 04/12/2019 and ending at 03/12/2021 as PI of the project
