Biography

Ms. Saba Khalid, working as a visiting lecturer of Epidemiology & Public Health discipline in the department of Clinical Sciences, at KBCMA UVAS, Narowal campus since September, 2024. I earned my degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore in 2017. I have completed my MPhil in Epidemiology & Public Health from the same institute in 2019. In my masters, I worked on the rabies (KAP survey in risk community) and also collected the data on dog bite cases & dog killing in Lahore, Pakistan. I also authored a policy brief on rabies to create awareness among the general public and the stakeholders. After completion of my masters I worked with the WECAN organization as a livestock trainer. I have almost a half year of experience working as livestock trainer/assessor with the Institute of Continuing Education & Extension, UVAS, Pattoki campus. I also worked at the Department of EPH as a research associate in a PARB funded project from November 2022 to September 2024. Currently, I am pursuing my PhD in Epidemiology & Public Health and my research is focused on epidemiology/detection of tick-borne pathogens. During my doctoral training, I am gaining skills in designing research methodologies, sample size calculations, sampling techniques, spatial analysis, disease mapping, data analytics including statistical modeling using R software and ArcGIS/QGIS and getting expertise in laboratory techniques particularly molecular assays such as various types of polymerase chain reactions (PCRs) & Reverse Line Blot Assay.
