Dr. Rafia Kiran Zahid is an accomplished literary scholar and language expert serving as a Lecturer in English within the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, since 2014. She is deeply committed to instilling critical thinking, multiplicity of textual interpretations, and postcolonial analytical capabilities among her students, aiding them in unlocking their maximum academic potential.

Dr. Zahid has established a robust research profile specializing in Anglophone fiction, necropolitics, postcolonialism, and ecofeminism. She has successfully published extensive research papers investigating the psychological strains, structural violence, and indigenous resistances depicted within contemporary South Asian literature. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, she contributes significantly to institutional quality management and student development. She has served as the Departmental Focal Person for the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), Secretary of the

department Board of Studies, Associate Senior Tutor (Girls), Secretary of the Editorial Board for the university magazine VISION, and Faculty Convener of the university’s literary society QIRTAS.

She is currently taking care of the responsibility as Secretary, CEPA, as well as Associate Senior Tutor, in addition to the teaching and research responsibilities.

Academic Journey

Dr. Zahid earned her Ph.D. in English Literature from the University of Lahore (2025), where her doctoral dissertation focused on modern power dynamics and state structures titled “Governmentality, Impunity, and Violence: A Necropolitical Approach to Pakistani Anglophone Fiction”. She also holds an MS in English Literature from Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), where her research explored resistance in Sufi poetry, and a Master’s degree in English from the University of the Punjab.

Professional Commendation

Professional Commendations: Her contributions to national curriculum standards include formal recognition from the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC) in 2019 for her work on the Curriculum Review Committee for the DVM program. She was also awarded a Letter of  Appreciation  for  her  outstanding  administrative  and  media management roles during the International Buffalo Congress (IBC) in 2019.
