Biography

Dr. Qamar Niaz is serving as a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Bio-Sciences, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, UVAS, Lahore; his Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the Faculty of Bio-Sciences, UVAS, Lahore; and his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Pharmacology from the School of Medicine (International Campus), Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Tehran, Iran.

Dr. Niaz has over 13 years of teaching and research experience in Pharmacology and Toxicology. He has taught Pharmacology courses to BSc Nursing students at TUMS, Iran, and is currently teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Pharmacology and Toxicology at UVAS, including programs such as DVM, BS (Hons.) Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND), BS (Hons.) Applied Microbiology, BS (Hons.) Environmental Sciences, and BS (Hons.) Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), as well as M.Phil. and Ph.D. classes. He is also actively supervising postgraduate students and serving as a major member on their supervisory committees.

His research contributions include publications in several high-impact international journals, including short communications in the Journal of Hepatology (cumulative impact factor 131.8). He has also authored and co-authored multiple laboratory manuals for undergraduate and postgraduate students and contributed locally to Agro Veterinary News (AVN). Dr. Niaz has presented his research at international forums, including the Singapore Hepatology Conference (2021, 2022), HBV Cure Meetings (2021, 2022), and the International Liver Congress (2022–2025) organized by the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) in the UK.

In recognition of his academic excellence, he was awarded the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) scholarship by the Government of Pakistan during his DVM studies, and a Gold Merit-Based Tuition Waiver Scholarship by the Government of Iran during his Ph.D. studies. He also received the Best Student Award from the Department of Pharmacology, the International Campus of TUMS, and the TUMS International Avicenna Club (2017–2022).

Beyond academics, Dr. Niaz has been actively involved in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. He served as Vice President of the University Athletics Games and the University Kabaddi Sports at UVAS. He is a lifetime member of the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC), the UVAS Alumni Association, and the TUMS Alumni Association.

Dr. Niaz has also contributed significantly to administrative and departmental responsibilities at UVAS. He has served as the departmental focal person for Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) queries, in-charge of departmental internal audit reports and fixed assets, secretary and general member of the departmental Student Grievance Committee, member of inspection committees for procurement verification, in-charge of undergraduate and postgraduate laboratories and lecture rooms, and focal person for departmental website updates.
