Biography
Dr. Muhammad Zahid Iqbal is a dedicated and accomplished lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Ravi Campus, Pakistan. He earned his PhD in Veterinary Medicine from UVAS in 2021, with a distinguished CGPA of 3.92 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Aneela Zameer Durrani. Dr. Zahid Iqbal also holds an MPhil and a DVM from the same institution, both completed with high honors.
Dr. Zahid Iqbal’s academic and professional journey is marked by a profound commitment to clinical and preventive veterinary medicine. His research primarily focuses on the early detection and control of various conditions and diseases of ruminants especially dairy cattle, and he has significantly contributed as member to projects funded by the Pakistan Agriculture Research Board (PARB).
Throughout his career, Dr. Zahid Iqbal has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field. He has received numerous accolades, including appreciation letters from the Vice Chancellor of UVAS and an award for outstanding performance at the international conferences. Additionally, he serves as a Master Trainer on Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards (LEGS) under the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Dr. Zahid Iqbal’s expertise is further enriched by international training and experiences, including advanced clinical training for large animals in Thailand and a leadership exchange program in the United States. These global engagements have enhanced his professional skills and broadened his perspective on veterinary practices.
At UVAS, Dr. Zahid Iqbal is actively involved in teaching, research, extension and administration. He has served in various capacities, such as Assistant In-charge at the Medicine Clinic, Organizer/Supervisor of 24/7 Extension Services, and In-charge of the horse riding School. He is also a valued member of multiple committees, contributing to the academic and administrative excellence of the university.
Beyond his formal roles, Dr. Zahid Iqbal is passionate about student development and career guidance. He founded the Career Orienting Society (COS) at UVAS, aiming to mentor students and support their professional growth. His dedication to education and student welfare is evident in his continuous efforts to enhance the learning environment at UVAS.
