Biography

Dr. Faisal Hussnain has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Poultry Production, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, Pakistan, since January 17, 2022. He started his career as a Teaching Assistant in the same Department during the academic year 2012-13. Later, he served UVAS as a Lecturer from May 13, 2015, to January 16, 2022. He completed his BS (Hons.) Poultry Science (2008-12) from UVAS, Lahore, with distinction (Gold Medal). He worked as a Quality Assurance Intern in Season’s Foods (Pvt.) Ltd. In his M.Phil. Poultry Production (2012-14), he worked on the "Effect of different rearing systems and mannan oligosaccharide (MOS) supplemented diets on carcass cut-up and meat sensory traits in separate sex reared broilers" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram. In his Ph.D. Poultry Production (2019), he worked on “Carcass quality and physiological response of broilers affected by crating, transportation, and climatic indices” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Athar Mahmud. He was selected by the Ministry of National Food Security and Research for a three-month training on “Livestock Breeding and Genomics” in Northwest Agriculture & Forestry University (NWAFU), Shaanxi, China under Prime Minister of Pakistan’s Initiative for capacity building of 1000 Agricultural Graduates in China.

Dr. Faisal worked as a Team Member in developing PC-1 for the HEC-funded project Enhancement of Research Facilities at UVAS, Ravi Campus, Pattoki. He also worked as a Research Assistant in the research project Development of meat-type Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix Japonica) with higher body weight acclimatized to indigenous managemental conditions through 6 generations of Selective breeding Programme at Avian Research and Training Centre, UVAS Lahore. He also managed the “UVAS-PPA School meal program,” in which eggs and drumsticks were provided to school-going children daily. He has been assisting the Pakistan Poultry Association in organizing the All Pakistan “Know Your Food, Know Your Health” Quiz Competition during the International Poultry Expo every year since 2022. This competition aimed to educate the masses about the benefits of poultry products and bust myths prevalent in society.

Besides his curricular activities, he is also an active athlete and has won several medals in athletic competitions. He won 3rd prize in the “Scientific Poster Competition” at the International Poultry Expo-2013 among researchers of all veterinary universities/ institutes of Pakistan. He was also awarded the “Best Organizer Award” from Pakistan Poultry Association for managing International Poultry Expo (IPEX-2018 and IPEX-2019). He also received an appreciation shield and a laptop from the Governor of Punjab for successfully organizing the Interuniversity Quiz Competition during IPEX-2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025. Presently, he is working as a QEC Focal person and Resident Tutor (Qasim Hall).
