LAHORE (10-11-25): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged a seminar to mark Poet of the East Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal Day in befitting manner at City Campus.
Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the seminar while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Emeritus Prof Dr Muhammad Ashraf, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Rana Muhammad Ayyub, Prof Dr Yasin Tipu, Director Information Technology Rizwan Saleem and number of faculty members and students were present in the seminar.
Earlier, UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus visited Iqbal’s mausoleum on the occasion of Iqbal Day offered flowers and recited Fateha and also wrote his impressions in the book of visitors, in which he paid rich tribute to the poet of the East Dr Allama Iqbal in a magnificent manner.
While addressing seminar, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that Dr Allama Iqbal through his poetry, awakened the Muslims of the Indian subcontinent from their slumber and instilled in them the desire to have a separate homeland and the dream of a separate country for Muslims that he had seen became a reality in the form of Pakistan, thanks to the tireless efforts of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah that today we are living freely in an independent country. He said that Dr Allama Iqbal through his poetry also gave a message to awaken the sense of self in the Muslim youth to identify themselves and likened the youth to a falcon whose place is in the sky. He said that to pay tribute to Dr Allama Iqbal, it is necessary to implement his thoughts and philosophy especially the message he gave to the young generation through his thought-provoking poetry. He said that one of the great signs of great nations is that they never forget their benefactors. Prof Dr Younus said that Dr Allama Iqbal in his poetry described in detail the glory of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and the understanding insight and virtue of Hazrat Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). He said Iqbal also wrote other poems in praise of the companions of Prophet Muhammad and the saint of Allah. Prof Dr Younus said that in my life I have always adopted high qualities like hard work and honesty and have never given preference to wealth and during my service I established two excellent university level institutions in Jhang and Narowal.
Prof Dr Aneela Zamir Durrani said that Iqbal Day is a day of commitment that gives us the concept of self-realization. She said his poetry contains the interpretation of the Holy Quran and the ideal of a better life, which is also a beacon for the younger generation. She said that we need to follow the principles of faith, unity and organization. Rizwan Saleem highlighted Iqbal’s message of self-awareness, unity and hard work and said that in order for the youth to become a prosperous nation they must follow the teachings of Dr Allama Iqbal.
Seminars were also held on the occasion of Iqbal Day at all the campuses of the UVAS including the city campus, Ravi Campus, Pattoki, CVAS-Jhang, Khan Bahadur Chauhdary Mushtaq Ahmed College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Narowal and Para Veterinary Institute, Karor Lal Eason Layyah and paid tribute to the poet of the East Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal in a befitting manner.
