UVAS holds seminar on Traffic Awareness: Promoting Road Safety & Responsible Citizenship

LAHORE (06-11-25): The Blood Donors Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL) arranged a seminar on Traffic Awareness Promoting Road Safety and Responsible Citizenship here at City Campus Lahore.

Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani presided over the seminar while Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Maqsood Ahmad Loan was the Guest of Honour of the seminar.

Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Rana Muhammad Ayyub, Senior Tutor Prof Dr Yasin Tipu, Education Officer (CTPL) Mr Faisal Khan, Director Students’ Affairs Dr Muhammad Asad Ali and number of students and faculty members were present.

Meanwhile, Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani also chaired the oath-taking ceremony and administered oath to the new office-bearers of the UVAS Blood Donors Society and acknowledge their role for the welfare of society.

While addressing the seminar, Maqsood Ahmed Lone said that the basic objective of the Lahore Traffic Police is to keep the public safe from various types of accidents, for which he advised the people to abide by the traffic rules and also emphasized on wearing helmets regularly while driving. He said that over speeding leads to accidents and loss of life, therefore he emphasized on maintaining a reasonable speed and avoiding any kind of violation of the law. Maqsood Ahmed Lone also said that no campaign is successful unless students play a key role in it and in this regard, he also appealed to the students to fully cooperate with the City Traffic Police Lahore.

Earlier Mr Faisal Khan urged the students of the UVAS to be aware of traffic rules, improve vehicles and roads to avoid accidents, avoid over speeding while driving, line crossing voilation and also avoid using all kinds of intoxicating drugs. He also shed detailed light on the methods of walking along the road and crossing the road and various aspects related to driving.

On that occasion, a pink van was also brought by the City Traffic Police Lahore to assist the female staff and faculty of the UVAS in obtaining a driving license, renewing the license and taking the driving test, so that the women of the university could easily get their driving licenses.
