LAHORE (26-09-25): The Faculty of Veterinary Science of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged an awareness walk and vaccination camp to mark World Rabies Day with the theme of “Act Now: You, Me, Community” to create awareness among public against rabies here at City Campus on Friday.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) led the walk while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Directors/Chairpersons from different departments, a large number of students from Vets Care Club (VCC), Vet Crescent Society (VCS), Special Animals & Veterinary Emergency Relief Society (SAVERS) and faculty members participated. The walk started from the Vice-Chancellor Office and culminated in front of main lawn after taking a round of City Campus.
Meanwhile, UVAS Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences (Pet Center) in collaboration with different pharmaceuticals industries also arranged a free rabies vaccination camp to mark the day in befitting manners. General Manager Snam Pharma Lt Col (Retd) Dr Muhammad Hammad Ahmed Hashmi along with Principal Officer City Campus Prof Dr Mati Ur Rehamn Khan Niazi and other dignitaries inaugurated the camp by vaccinating a cat.
The purpose of the activity was to educate people, vaccinate pets and eliminate rabies from the country. Later Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus presented shields among representatives of different pharmaceuticals industries in his office. Similar activities were also arranged at other campuses of the UVAS including Ravi Campus Pattoki, CVAS Jhang, KBCMA-CVAS Narowal and Para Veterinary Institute Karor Lal Eason Layyah.
