LAHORE (14-08-25): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore celebrated the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan in a befitting manner here on Thursday in City Campus.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies, Quran Khawani, prayers for the martyrs of Pakistan and cake cutting ceremony featured the day at all UVAS campuses.
The day began with Quran Khawani and special prayers in the university mosque for the martyrs and for the progress & prosperity of the country and university.
Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) along with Chairman Department of Parasitology Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Prof Dr Mati Ur Rehman and other dignitaries hoisted the national flag while faculty members, students, administrative staff and their families attended in a large numbers.
Later Prof Dr Muhammad Younus along with Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf and other dignitaries planted saplings in front of Administration Block Lawn for the promotion of greenery in the City Campus.
Addressing the audience, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus congratulated the university employees, staff & students on celebrating 78th Independence Day of Pakistan. He paid tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah for his political struggle, tireless efforts and valuable services for achieving an independent country for the muslims of the Indian subcontinent. He said that we also pay tribute to the poet of the east Dr Muhammad Allama Iqbal who presented us with the best vision of an independent country. He said that we are also extremely grateful to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan who played an exemplary role in strengthening Pakistan’s defense system impregnable so that today we are living in peace in an independent country. He also praised the brilliant efforts of the Pakistani forces who recently responded to the aggression carried out by the Indian army during Operation Banyan ul-Marsoos and our armed forces set a high example of courage and bravery. Prof Dr Younus said that our ancestors sacrificed their precious lives in the struggle for an independent country, then God blessed us with the blessing of freedom so that today we are living the life of a free nation in a free country. He said that freedom is a great blessing of God and its value known by the people of Kashmir and Palestine who are deprived of it till date and he also prayed for the freedom of Kashmir and Palestine. Prof Dr Younus said that our country was founded in the name of Islam and we are proud of it. He also said that as Pakistanis it is our responsibility to play a key role in the development of our country by utilizing knowledge & wisdom. At the end of the ceremony, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus also prayed for the martyrs of Pakistan army and the development of the UVAS.
Similar flag-hoisting ceremonies were also held in other campuses of UVAS including Ravi Campus Pattoki, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CVAS) Jhang, Khan Bahadur Chaudhary Mushtaq Ahmad College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KBCMA-CVAS) Narowal and Para-Veterinary Institute Karor Lal-Eason Layyah.
