UVAS arranged faculty & administration meeting with Chief Executive Officer PARB

LAHORE (12-08-25): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore arranged faculty and administration meeting with Chief Executive Officer Punjab Agriculture Research Board (PARB) Dr Abid Mehmood regarding how to attaining research projects from PARB and identified the priority researchable areas for the development of livestock sector here at City Campus on Tuesday.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) and Chief Executive Officer (PARB) Dr Abid Mehmood co-chaired the meeting and sought suggestions and technical inputs from faculty regarding identified the priority researchable areas, livestock products & vaccine development. UVAS researchers/faculty members from different departments and officials from PARB were present in the meeting physically and many through video link.

Addressing the meeting, Prof Dr Muhammad Younus said that the research projects should be relevant to the need of people and a large number of public can get maximum benefits from such research work. He also appreciated the efforts of Prof Dr Amir Ghafoor Bajwa for successfully running the Training Center for Biologics Production (TCBP) at Ravi Campus Pattoki and developing a vaccine to prevent foot-and-mouth disease.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Abid Mehmood said that the aim of the meeting was to provide a platform for the university researchers and faculty members to discuss new developments in the livestock sector, current issues, solutions to future challenges & priority research areas and also by following which guidelines they can obtain funding for research projects from the Punjab Agricultural Research Board. He said that for the development of new projects, it is important for faculty members to form their own groups in which they can discuss priority research topics as much as possible to refine their ideas. Dr Abid said that PARB provides funding to work on research projects related to solving problems faced by stakeholders in the livestock sector. He said don’t hesitate to share their research projects with other researchers because improvement in research projects comes only after receiving the opinions of other researchers and discussing with them.

The participants of the meeting provided expert suggestions/opinions for the development of the livestock sector and identify of priority research areas related to breed improvement, vaccine development, embryo culture, goat farming, product registration & commercialization, new diagnostic testing methods, nano biotic and leather etc.
