LAHORE (13-11-24): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding with Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Centre for joint studies, research and training activities and other educational exchanges including for the conduct of collaborative pre-clinical, clinical & other educational research studies in the area of identification and testing of new diseases.
UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I), Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani and Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman from UVAS while Director Research/Consultant Surgeon Prof Dr Irfan Ahmad and Associate Director-Clinical Research Dr Kashif Asghar from PKLI signed the MoU in a ceremony held at City Campus. Prof Dr Imran Rashid UVAS senior faculty members and few officials from PKLI attended the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Irfan Ahmad said that this cooperation will be beneficial for both institutions especially to learn about innovative knowledge, experiences and skills from each other. He lauded UVAS infrastructure development, disease diagnostics lab facilities and trained human resource. He said our mainly focus to work on clinical research and through this agreement researchers from both institutions have the opportunity to working together and explore new knowledge.
Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani highlighted the importance of faculty development training programme and also spoke about state of the art infrastructure development facilities of UVAS in its other campus including Narowal Campus and Ravi Campus.
Under the MoU, both parties will cooperate in sharing of scientific literature, clinical trial result and research information between each other’s. Both institutions will explore common areas of interest include new diagnostic testing, unique treatments and understanding of the natural history of diseases. They will conduct clinical studies to evaluate health care outcomes, health care economics and use of information technology to streamline various aspects of health care. They will jointly organize public awareness programs focusing on reduce the risk of Hepatitis B and C transmission, screening programs of cancers, awareness on the importance of organ donation and cadaveric transplantation. They also will collaborate in organizing of workshops, seminars and training for students, employees and faculty their capacity building.
