LAHORE (17-10-24): The Qiraat and Naat Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Ministry of Religious Affairs, Higher Education Commission, Government Collage University and Minhaj University Lahore arranged final round of First International Naat Competition (hybrid) here in City Campus.
A large number of Naat Khawan from different Pakistani institutions and countries including Norway, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia participated in this contest through video link.
Former Minister for Auqaf & Religious Affairs Punjab Peer Saeed ul Hassan Shah was the Chief Guest of the competition and distributed medals, certificates and cash prize among winner and Animal Husbandry Commissioner Dr Muhammad Akram was the Guest of Honour while renowned Naat Khawan Akhtar Hussain Qureshi was the judge.
This competition comprised of two categories and participants aged 10-15 years were junior category and participants aged 15-25 years were the senior category.
In junior category contest, Sayyeda Madeeha won 1st position (gold medal with cash prize), Muhammad Ameer Ali Qadri (silver medal) got 2nd while Ibrahim Rashid (Bronze Medal) stood on 3rd position.
In Senior category contest, Ayesha Akbar (gold medal) won 1st position, Muhammad Hamid Yasin (silver medal) got 2nd while Tariq Ali (bronze medal) stood on 3rd position.
While addressing the ceremony, Peer Saeed ul Hassan Shah spoke about the glory and greatness (fazeelat) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He lauded UVAS for arranging such a tremendous competition of naat in befitting manners.
Prof Dr Muhammad Younus Rana said that mother lap is the best institution for learning. He said universities are known for imparting training and knowledge for the making humans and such religious competitions are necessary to highlight the importance of Islam.
Dr Sarwar Siddique thanked the VC for allocating Naat and Qirat quota in UVAS admissions. He said first time in the university of Pakistan arrange such an International naat contest held in the UVAS where the number of naat khawan from different countries of the world participated physically and virtually.
