UVAS holds Orientation programme for newly-admitted undergraduate students

LAHORE (18-09-24): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organised an orientation programme for newly-admitted students of various undergraduate degree classes here in City Campus Lahore on Wednesday. The students from other campuses of UVAS including Ravi Campus Pattoki, CVAS Jahng and KBCMA-CVAS Narowal attended this ceremony through video link.

UVAS Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Dr Muhammad Younus (DLA.I, T.I) presided over the orientation ceremony while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science/ Principal Students Affairs Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences Business Management Prof Dr Muhammad Azam, Dean Faculty of Biosciences Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman, Registrar Sajjad Hyder and a large number of newly-admitted students along with their parents and senior faculty members and administrative officers of UVAS were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Younus congratulated the students on their admissions and welcomed them in the UVAS. Addressing the students, Prof Younus said that they have chosen UVAS, which is one of the best universities and is a brand well known nationally and internationally and guaranties their bright future. He termed UVAS a “mini Pakistan” because of its students intake from across the country. He said UVAS is also focusing on character building of students along with their education to make them good professionals and useful citizens. He said UVAS is imparting practical knowledge and skills to its students and after completion of degrees these students serve in livestock, poultry and dairy industries and play their vital role in the socio economy development of country by utilizing their knowledge & skills. He said UVAS ranked among the top 10 universities of Pakistan due to its quality education and research. He said UVAS faculty and administration offices even the Vice-Chancellor’s Office are always open to students for their assistance and solve their issues. He said UVAS is offering professional degree programmes and every degree of UVAS has a good scope and advised students to study with keen interest.

Earlier, UVAS deans of different faculties including Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Prof Dr Habib-ur-Rehman and Prof Dr Muhammad Azam congratulated the newly admitted students and spoke about their faculty programmes and competent faculty members are imparting the latest theoretical and practical knowledge to their students.  They said UVAS is providing a conducive-intellectual environment of learning to students and trained them for their practical life.

Later, Hostel Warden Prof Dr Aftab Ahmed Anjum, Director Students Affairs Dr Muhammad Asad Ali and Director Sports Rana Amjad Iqbal also spoke on the occasion and talked about their responsibilities for facilitating students. They spoke about the rules & regulations, discipline of the university, curricular & extra-curricular activities, sports and residential hostel facilities, etc. Director Information Technology Centre Mr Rizwan Saleem spoke about the-state-of-the-art IT facilities for students including computer labs, fast internet service to attending online seminar and national & international conference and cameras for security. Director Sports Rana Amjad Iqbal spoke about the indoor & outdoor sports facilities like sports complex and flood light ground. He said that UVAS is establishing a state-of-the-art wrestling academy and a swimming pool for students etc.
